I bought one in a kit from Home Depot.. got it with a drill, battery, and charger for $70, figured I'd try it for that money..

Well I'm happy with it :D

The dang thing helped us in a junk yard crawl sawing off some shock mounts and u-bolts off a 76 Grenada(we were taking the axle out of it for a Falcon project) and the battery still had plenty of juice for me to use the drill around the house :D

I don't think it is as good as dewalt.. but for myl use it works great.. I plan to get a couple more batteries and the car charger so I can always have it ready when I need it.

X2... I got a Ryobi kit (drill/circular saw/vacuum/light/sawzall) a couple of years ago and it's a great kit for the occasional use. My batteries are finally starting to go out on me but it's been almost 3 years and I use them fairly often so I can't complain. The tools themselves are prefectly fine though so with a couple new batteries I'll be cookin' again.
The sawzall you're talking about rocks. A corded one would probably work a little better but being able to take it with you to the junk yard it priceless.

My dad picked up the Ryobi kit not too long ago. I like that cordless sawzall for finer stuff, but I break out the corded Ryobi with the Demo/Fire&Rescue blade for anything too stubborn haha:D I like the interchangeability of the cordless stuff though, the circular saw is pretty cool too.

For future references this site kicks ass for power tools... buy the reconditioned ones. Same warranty as the new tools and you get expensive chit for cheap.

Could have had a makita 18v lithium Ion for another 20 bucks.

Um, yah, with no batteries, charger, or drill. Not exactly comparing apples to apples.........

Chit... missed that. Lithium ion isn't cheap. Batteries last 3x longer.

They have awesome deals on drills, bench grinders, etc though. Not too many options for recon sawzalls.

I bought a bunch of the ryobi's when I started my house build. I like them all and most of them have lasted. I have had to replace (under warranty) 3 drills. The sawzall does have one thing that I do not like. The safety thumb switch needs to go.

The concord Home depot off of Willow pass road has these kits on clearance for $99 if anyone is interested.

I have nothing useful to add, except that I'm a carpenter and I use a dewalt sawzall, but just felt like posting because I noticed just about everyone in this thread is in CA, and that you mentioned the home depot in concord that I'm at on an almost daily basis
