s 10 trannys interchangeable?

Truck in question, 94 S10/S15 with a 4.3 L and a 5 SD.

Question is, will a 5 speed out of an 88-89 S10/S15 (older body style) that was mated to the same motor, 4.3L, work in the 94?

If not, what years will?

The older one is a Getrag, the newer one is a NV3500 (essentially a copy of the Getrag).

The t-case side should be fine, as is the engine side. Where it may differ is the clutch fork or hydraulic release bearing stuff. I'm not entirely sure.

They should match up without a problem. The 88-89 should have the same hydraulic clutch setup as the newer version, iirc.

Any differences that they might have would be minute. I'm sure you could work around it with a little ingenuity; you might not need any though.
