My main rig is a fullsize '74 w/ '89 body, but looking for some answers to body lift Q's on a 1988 s-15 I picked up. Will a 3in body lift clear 33x12.50x15 without fender trimming? Will 33's fit onto the stock aluminum rims?, do I need wider rims?, how about offset? Hoping someone has here has done this, and has the answers..........thanks.

33's will kill your mpg and the drivetrain's life expectancy won't be long.

you will only be able to fit 32s, but you can jack your torsion bars and put longer shackles in the rear with alot of trimming for 33s, but your front end will hate you, the amount of ball joints you will replace, it wont be worth it

Hmmm

Thanks.....will have to think this out more. Maybe I'll just use some 275-75-15 muds.

SAS :D

I know when I go 3/4 tons in my '84 I'll be saving my 1/2 tons for the S-10 Blazer in the family.. fun little truck to drive but the front suspension doesn't hold up to even a little abuse(stock sized tires; two CV's, and a shock mount later...). Think it might need a ball joint soon judging by the nice clunk you get going over speed bumps :doah:

S-10`s are nice trucks/blazers but they don't hold up well offroading them.I`ve had to replace lots of front end parts on my Blazer just from riding around on easy trails.

i run 38 on my s 15

This is a mute point but you could get 33x10.5s on the stock rims and they would clear better than the 12.5s. Slightly easier on the drivetrain. Best idea is probably a SAS or stick with a more moderately sized tire. 31s can be put on a stock s-15 w. minor mods.

I've got a buddy that's starting a biz catering to S10 lifts and mods. He'll do a SFA kit pretty soon, has the design worked out already. He's got the test rig, a chopped '89 blazer. He ran it with 32x10.50's, and ran it hard. No lift, just fender trimming. Now it's stripped down and getting some 4-link, but it worked pretty good for what it was earlier. He's pretty active on S10forum.com in the "lifting it" forum. Here's a thread where he talks about different products they'll be making, you might want to keep an eye on it. http://www.s10forum.com/forum/f134/woot-328694/

We've both got some videos on youtube you can browse through, showing some of the trials the S10 has been put through in stock form.

Oh yeah, and there's someone out there that makes some indestructible (nearly) balljoints for S10s. I remember they were pretty inexpensive too, don't think they costed any more than regular replacements. Other than that, the front ends on those things are pretty stout IMO. His S10 used to be mine, and we've both beat on it quite a bit, with no failure, save the little axle shaft in the 7.5" rear end. But that's to be expected with rock crawling and bouncing.

Thanks for all the info....lots of stuff on that link for S-10/15's.....just what I was looking for :)

yeah, im the one he's talking about. i havent gave it much press on here, because it will mainly be s10 parts, but you cant count these little cheap trucks out, they can take some abuse.
