On the rear axle, there is a braket attached to the housing, it connects on the other end to some sort of valving device for the brakes. If I had to guess, it has something to do with load and brake pressure. Question is, with a 6 inch lift, it certainly cannot be used without making a different braket. What should I do with it? I'm swapping to d60/4bolt so braking shouldn;t be an issue.

if im thinking correctly,ur talking about a purportioning valve.so when u put a load in the bed it puts more brake power to the rear tires and when its empty,it takes away power so u dont lock up the back. but like JP said,u can just take it out. get a coupler or something if u need to.

Can I just leave it hooked up and not use it? Seems like just as big a job to disconnect the lines and re-route them to bypass it as it would be to modify the braket

Let me go grab a quick pic of mine so you can see.

Added- Basically I just D/C'ed the bottom line and bent it down so I can run the line straight into the rear brakes. I left the rest alone.
