S-Truck body swaps

I thought I had saved this recent picture of it but I can't find it All I have is a couple bad pictures that once I get thme down small enough to load in the gallery they will look bad and one of the pictures has Steves least favorite bumper make in it. I'll e-mail him and see if I can get a decent shot.
The thing is huge!

Ok here is the picture if Eric Davis's Extended cab s-10 on 1 ton running gear. He originaly started with a 77 K5 then decided it was too wide. Pulled the body to use the frame. Then he decided to build a new frame. I think the frame is 2x6 box.

Damn /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif, that just looks impressive /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

He said it was just easier to make the frame to fit the running gear than to figure out how to get the s body to mate to a K frame. Wheel base problems, frame location etc.
He was working a a fabrication shop at the time and had ready access to the tools. THe frame is pretty straight forward and probably only took a day to get it roughed in. It's also a hell of a lot stronger than the factory set up and let him pick and chose optimum mounting locations for every thing.

Cool, just curious, is that a large gap in between the frame and the front fenders or is it something else?

Kind of related, I was down at Tanner 4x4 last year and they were working on putting a Toy body onto a GM frame, here are a few pics:

It's gap. THe frame rails are straight from what I understand. It runs 8 inch springs (I think that's what he said) so no need for a hump over the front axle. It allowed him to set the engine a little lower and get better driveline angles I think was the other reason he did it that way. I have not had a chance to look at the truck.
I swore if I ever trashed the body on mine I would drop a scrambler tub on it. The wheel base is about right.

Just for comparison and my own info, how wide is the body of a Jeep TJ and how wide is an S-10 body?

i know its an old post but there has to be some more info, i was wondering what would fit best on a k5 frame, s-10 reg cab and short bed or ext. cab and short bed? i am thinking of buying a wrecked newer style s-10 to do the swap with. didnt know if anyone had any pics of the newer s10 on fullsize. thanks for the info in advance

S-10 regular cab....It would fit (wheel well wise) almost perfectly. I would of rather ran one, but with a wife and 2 kids who sometimes tag along, I needed the extra room.

My ext cab swap is going to require some sheet metal removal to work perfectly. the cab mounts have all been custom made.

Here are a couple shots as of Today...

One more of the front...as you can see, we are toying with an idea on the front body mounts. As it is now, the body mount is directly of the steering box, plus the frame goes up at different places on either side, so we are working those issues out.

For more info, check out my website at the link below and snoop around. I have pics of the conversion on more than one page.

BTW- I am going to try to do a write-up on it when we get it done.
