My neighbour asked me today if I was interested in making some money… it would involve taking a auto trans out of two s10s and replacing one. Question is how bad are they to work on? I would be doing it off jackstands, I got no hoist. I’ve done a 02 Trailblazer and it was tight to work on. He offered me 1000.00 bucks to do the work.
No time limit.

They are 4.3 engines. Not positive on the year? Early 2000.

1000 I'd do it, they are a little tighter than a square. 2wd or 4x4 ? 2wd if you pull the dist and loosen the shroud you can tilt quite a ways.

4x4 will be a lot harder and tight quarters, I would have to think twice. Have you seen both trucks ?

if i remember correctly the exhaust makes those a pain to remove, have to decide which is worse to deal with leaving the exhaust in place and fighting getting it out, or fighting trying to remove the exhaust from the manifolds without breaking all the studs

That’s what I was worried about.

Currently pulling the engine outta my 93 s10, 4x4 with 4.3.

Ended up cutting the exhaust Y out because it wouldn't unbolt from the manifolds. Also need a 3/8" drive 9/16 wobble socket to remove the bellhousing bolts. Not a socket with a wobble attachment, or a wrench, or any other socket. Must be that little bastard, nothing else fits to get those bolts.
