Went to the local U pull it to kill some time. See what I can find. Well, there wasnt much. Oh there were plenty of cars out there, but mainly 90s and 2000s. I found one old chevy truck with 1ton running gear, but it looked ruff. I say no Blazers other than the wanna be S10 Blazers, plenty of those around. There were a few 'burbs, but jus plain jane stuff and mainly 2wd. All 10bolt rears. Oh well. Last time I went, there was one lowly blazer out there that had been picked clean. lol. oh well, stuff is getting harder and harder to find.

Big difference between the east and west . Too many daily drive those out here , and they just plain survive anyway .

It's the same way up here budd...

There is only one "U pull it" around here now, and most yards do not hold onto vehicles over 20 years old anyways...

I found ONE chev pick up, and it was a frame, and misc. lines/wires, and a rotted cab....

none of my local yards have anything worth even looking at. Every 4wd GM I approach is a 1/2 ton, if I see 8 lugs its 2wd.

I wonder how long it will take before we feel the pinch that early body bronco guys or gen 1 blazer guys feel.

Look for the "other stuff" that can be used on our rigs. Gotlabs and I spend more time on those things than we do on K5 specific parts. It's up to you to figure out what those parts might be.

the ecology out ehre is pretty sweet, most smaller yards just carry japanese 90s and newer cars though

Oh I do. I especially look at all the converstion vans and the interiors to see if I can come up with any ideas for my Blazer to make it the perfect Bug Out Vehicle. so Im always looking at comfort and storage ideas. :wink1:

badmix, where in FL are you...there's plenty of pick and pulls around me that are loaded with 73-87 K5/K10/etc. im actually headed to one right now. haha

There are some serious junk yards in MASS. Some trucks look like theyve been there for 20 years. Theres one near my house, that the other day had four Ford HP front 60's. Everything is rusted to **** but its nothin a little sandblasting cant clean up!

Im in St Pete. Pinellas. Lemme know what ya find, if its worth while, maybe some day ill come down.

Forget the yards. They always want an arm and leg for anything and everything.

Take some time to do a nice scenic route in the country and look around for parked trucks that owners don't drive anymore. You may find more than you're expecting. This is how I find most of my stuff.

Hell I just look in my back yard:D always have Matt's Blazer to part out

If any body bothered to look, all they would see is a few Furd parts.:doah: Most of the hard parts for mine came from a 72 furd hiboy. I'm waiting for a ford Dana60 (driverside pumpkin) and a newer model chevy with a drivers side 241 to offer up it's drivetrain to me, as soon as I find either of those...my axe will fall!

any 3/4 or 1 tons around here are farm trucks and have been flogged their whole life. If I ever get a Dana 60 and a 14ff out of a junkyard. Ill go through them before ever throwing them under a truck

Junk yards in sarasota have plenty of 80's chevy parts :wink1:

LKQ cophers?

Take a look at the red/blue long bed 4x4. It has the worst rust I have ever seen. There is rust flaking of the axle
