I like the color combo. :D

Mechanical clutch linkage finally gave out on me. Been expecting this day for at least a year. I bought a complete hydro set up, but haven't had time to install it. Now I have to make time. It failed in the middle of hauling materials to a jobsite. :doah: Oh well, a friend helped me get the rest of the stuff up there and I can carpool in the car with the wife to finish the job now that all materials are there.

I've been hating it for a long time. In some ways, I'm glad to have a forced reason to switch. :D I just hope bleeding the system isn't too miserable.

Did the mechanical linkage fail or the clutch which forces you to take it ou and then you can switch to hydro?
I can't imagine how the linkage could fail in a way you can't drive it.
But the clutch slipping or completely ripping off I could understand.

Shouldn't have needed a wrecker to get you home...that particular tranny shifted really well without a clutch.

Yeah, i've driven it clutchless a few times and I'm pretty good at it. However, there were a few other factors involved:

1. My batteries were dead because I accidentally left my reverse lights on all night, and when I went to charge them I didn't realize that my leads were falling apart on the charger so it didn't work. so, I couldn't get the truck to start and obviously you need a clutch if you're going to bump start it. :doah:

2. there's an INSANE number of pedestrians out today, and you wouldn't believe how they just walk into traffic here. It's shocking to out-of-towners, honestly. I didn't feel real comfortable driving clutchless with all these people walking out in front of me.

3. it was at a customer's house, and i didn't like the back-and-forth issues I kept coming up against as being an image that represented me. I just wanted to get it out of there. :) insurance pays towing, so no biggie.

Iceman - It was the linkage itself that failed. Lots of worn components, one broke and an entire section disappeared on the roadside somewhere. :D Whoops!
