Sad sack suburban

Never had a back window since I've owned it. Lol surprised there's no rust inside or in the tailgate.
It's covered in moss and mold. Genuine swamp thing!
I'll get the ass end right, rear axle re-gear.
I'll finish doing the heads and recamming the old crate motor I've been saving. Get it running, then do the front end, gears and springs.

I posted them, they're linked in the first post.

I'll repost them here. I don't understand having 2 threads for 1 build...am I doing it wrong?

Anyways...

I bought it from someone on here a good 10ish years back. The trans died on me. Don't think I'll ever have another 700r4.
Bought it in Raleigh, drove it home that night.
It was my work/g.p. vehicle.
I planned on doing this when I retired, but came across the K5.
I actually bought a rear window for it a couple of years back lol!
First thing it needs is a scrubbing, inside and out.
Think I'll hit the pawn shops first of the month and pick up a power washer.

I have a privacy rear window for it...
I do intend to change it from electric to manual crank.
It came with a "new" rear motor. I'll dig it out and test it. If it's any good I'll put it up for sale.

You're good, I don't quite get that first post in build threads either. 82355 recommends skipping it, I agree.

Awesome.

Harbor Freight has an electric unit that with a coupon is less than 100$ and has worked well for my infrequent use. House/vehicles etc.

You just have to manually edit the first post with the proper [ IMG ] tags. Or, post one photo when you create the build but repeat text and add images to the second post.

Feels like we just went through the coldest 4 or 5 days of the winter here.
As soon as it warms up enough to let me walk without limping I'll start tearing the inside apart for cleaning.
Tires will be here probably tomorrow, so I'll pull, clean and paint the rims.
Get it rolling. Gotta go slow until my wreck is settled. Then I'll have a little $$ for it. Bridezilla and I are sharing our 1 vehicle. This weekend I'll try to get to home Depot and pick up that washer Jeff posted. Perfect for me.

Lotsa goodies came in today. Pretty much a complete +4" rear suspension for it...plus tires.
Rear Bilstein 5100 shocks BDS springs and associated hardware. I'll start tomorrow or the next day. I kinda want new rims, but it's too ugly for that.
Pics!!
I love the smell of new tires. It should be a cologne...

New 33x10.5 - 15's

Brown box are the shocks, white box is bushings and hardware. I'm not touching the front until 1.) I see how it sits with the lifted rear, and 2.) I get the drivetrain swapped.

Whichever engine I use, it'll be getting a nv4500 behind it.

This last one is a Vortec 7400 accessory drive. Still debating if I want to go with my n.o.s. 2005 crate 350 or the gen 6 BBC I got from obijuan...

Decisions, decisions...

Looking for some train horns that play Dixie...kick off the next civil war in style...

Heard from the lawyers office today, the have my package together and are sending it off to her insurance company.
Next months check is going towards another engine stand.

Thinking about not even dealing with the stock big block heads. Any suggestions for some inexpensive yet still decent as possible bb oval port heads?

Ray, skip the small block and disappointment that comes with it. Just go for the big block. It’s worth it and if you keep the EFI I bet you don’t get any less mileage than the small block would get with the bigger tires.
Didn't get the efi unit with it...I'm buying a carb manifold from @sweetk30.
May buy a proflo for it after the wreck is settled.
The 33's are my go to size for 1/2 ton axles. I go with 10.5's for less rolling resistance. And I like the skinny look. I'm only putting lift springs on the rear because the 4x4 burbs sit low to start with, and these springs are 38-ish years old.

We have our 7 y.o. grandson today. He's the one that claimed my K5 as his.
I explained to him how I sold it, but I got a bunch of stuff for the burb.
He's in on the project, he " has to check his schedule with mommy so he can come and help".
God, I love this kid! ❤️❤️
