how do i make it work? i have a rubber fitting made to go over the throttle body but what about an air cleaner? and if it rains while im driving wont it suck in water?

The amount of rain that the snorkel is gonna scoop is moot. Plus the safari head has drains for water that collects on the back of the tube.

As far as the filter goes, build and airbox with a K&N in it.

since im carbed i cant help you there..

however i was going to use a tbi piece on top of my carb.. with the wing nut... then over to a tbi/tpi air box... and out through the snorkel...

fyi also yes i have driven in rain and it doesnt affect anything...

side note... if the snorkel comes with a hose clamp.. it doesnt work well... mine flew off and got ran over.. so my snorkel head is all beat up... i need a new one but not going to drop $85 for a new one.. bent it back some.. but grill is broken.... and im going to screw it to the snorkel so it doesnt come off again.... air got up in it as when your doing 85mph im guessing that was too much force for the clamp...

Why not use the TPI Firebird air cleaner? It has a little tube for an inlet that could easily be mated to plumbing for a snorkel.

I have an extra that I had used ontop of a pcv snorkel when i had my toyota. If I ever get a snorkel for the trooper its gonna be a full arb and come with a new hood.

Any interest in my old one?

my delema is they dont actually make one for a chevy... so i had to make my own inner.... wish they did but still at the price.. not alot are willing to pay it as you can drop $50 on an all pvc snorkel....

Did you use an off the shelf scoop though?

define scoop...

safari snorkel to fender.. inside pieces consist of pvc and rubber connectors...
to stock air cleaner that i cut down.
Since i have a holley on the truck and it came stock with a qjet... i found an adapter from a van... it was a holley riser piece for the intake...
love that thing...

you can vaguely see it here..

Ah no I meant the part on the outside of the truck where the air enters the snorkel.
