This may be a dumb question, but can I safely add a add-a-leaf to my 4" Rough Country spring packs on the front of my truck? I have tried my cousin's 37" hummer tires on my truck and they rub quite a bit, I regret not going with a 6" lift years ago now. I already have a set of H1 wheels and tires ordered that will be here next weekend and want to add a little more lift to help clear them. Just wondering if this will work safely, as I cannot afford new 6" springs right now. If it won't work I will just continue to run my 285's until I can.

How about a one of these http://diy4x.com/cart/index.php?route=product/product&path=24&product_id=128

Then some longer shackles. Shackles need to be 2" longer to get 1" of lift The ez inch can help you move your axle forward which will help more than adding lift with the rubbing problems.

In short an add a leaf will do nothing, they are designed to be added to a stock leaf pack, they certainly won't give you the 2" you seek maybe an inch or so.

you will need to trim regardless
also, any add a leaf or zero-rate is bolted to the spring pack, therefore it's not coming off, safe and sane. I am running zero rates in the front, moving the axle 1.5" forward also

Cut, zero rates, and move the axle forward.

If I got 38" narrow Michelins on my truck with 1" of lift and cutting, you can fit 37's with 5", relocating the axle forward, and cutting.

In same states where you have to pass safety inspection, zero rates can be considered a blocks which are illegal pretty much everywhere.....I know, every1 here knows that they are not but try explain that to some schmuck @ you local DMV.

Try these

Way more sturdy than stockers and 2" longer.....:thumb:

Tennessee doesn't require inspection THANK GOD!:woot::thumb:

I think I'm going to try the Ez Inch from DIY first. If I feel that I still need a little more lift I can fab up my own shackles identical to DIY & in the link above for next to nothing.

Thank you all for your replies.

You could also always try poly body bushings (probably push it up some by themselves) and a 1" body lift.

Lots 'O rust:doah:....not gonna fool with body bushings/mounts until we're ready to tear the truck down for a restoration.

This...with an extra inch up, and 1-1.5" forward the amount you're gonna need to trim will be minor. I'd be careful with much longer shackles up front as this tends to lessen lateral stability of the axle and can promote some spooky handling issues. Cross tied shackles are best if you're gonna go more than an inch longer IME.

Yeah that's my plan now, only going to do the shackles if I need too. If I still think I need them I will only make the long enough to add one inch, and I will brace them in between.
