Ok...I know there are a lot of function before beauty members here but I thought I would still share my door panel "sag" fix implementation and ideas for those that are interested. They always remind me of a frowny face icon for some reason.
I spent a bit of time thinking thru ideas to fix the saggy door handle and pockets. I think I came up with some decent ideas to share. The door panels on the best looking square body trucks and Blazers out there suffer because of these two items. It's the first thing you see when opening the truck too.
For the door handles I bent a piece of 1" x 1/8" aluminum and covered with vinyl to match the interior. They are much more useful now, sturdy, and aesthetically pleasing. Only down side I can see is in an accident they are not soft but if you get hit hard enough to do that type of damage I think it will be a mute point and most of the other components to the door are metal as well. Pictures below.
For the door pockets I ran across the idea while looking at Blazers on the internet so I don't claim this idea but makes a big difference none the less. Credit probably goes to some old school upholster out there somewhere. I added chrome button to the pockets. I added two on the Blazer in the attached pic but just did a single center one on my other Blazer and it works just as well. The double buttons flattens the top of the pocket out a bit more.
Hopefully this will help someone with ideas that are restoring their machines for a little more show in addition to the go...
