Looking at a car that was rear ended and totaled by the insurance company

Car has been repaired but has a salvage title.

What issues would I run into with this and does having a salvage title Hurt the value or if I decided I wanted to ever trade it in at a dealer?

Before you purchase it I would suggest talking to yourinsurance provider and see if they will cover it. Some companies wont and if they do they may only provide liability.
Also my understanding is that a salvaged car no matter what condition its in is worth less then an identical non salvaged car.

And if you know your way around cars just look it over good.
most times it is just a simple thing.

All this ^^ PLUS a dealer usually will not touch a vehicle with a salvage title.

For a wheeler or toy, who cares. For anything you may resell later, I would avoid it.

and if you own it and transfer it / sell it and it goes to another state . lots of them dont like transfered / salvaged cars from out of state.

and if it was salvaged has it or does it need to go threw a state special inspection ? in new york we require this and it can take time to get one in for this .

my buddy just got a box van with salvage / reconstruction title . but it was never in damage. it was a bankrupt co. sale that thay had to do a bad title on to get it out of hock . it also had to go threw the special inspect and took the last owner 3 months to get in to be checked out.

his ins company said if current in ny at time of sale no problems for him to get insurance . and dmv said if its ny title then he good . but NO out of state ones .

if me i would prob just walk away unless its a deal like my buddy just got.
