Been wanting one but know absolutely nothing about them. What do I look for? I'd prefer a cheap gravity feed one I can use with my A/C compressor cause it won't get used a lot. Just to clean stuff up.Tranny's,
t-case's,frames,axles ect.

Any thoughts? Northern has some priced right.

The gravity feed uses more air than the presure pot style. Either way you need lots of air. My 80 gallon double stage Husky compressor has a hard time keeping up.

Really :eek1: . I only have a 25gal. Guess slow is the ticket?

You can run them on a smaller compressor but its fustrating and takes a long time to do much. When I use mine (pot style) I stop when the flow of sand starts getting weak. Which is about every time the compressor kicks on. They also use alot of media with a smaller compressor

You might get a better answer in the Tool Shed. I left a redirect in the Garage so you'll get coverage from both forums.

YOu'll want to have the proper amount of air to sandblast. Using a shot of air from your tank to go for 20 seconds or so doesn't work. It takes a lot of media to get going as the line fills with sand and you'll get nothing but a solid blast of media every time you take off, this is basically a waste of time, sand, and money from the cost of sand.

My reccommendation would be to get another air compressor and pair it up with your current one and let them work in tandem to feed the blaster. This is what I do, and it takes me roughly 25-30cfm @90psi to sand blast efficiently with my 40lb pot blaster.

Like everyone else has said, it takes alot of air to run. I have a 5hp 80 gal and it'll keep up with a siphon fed, but even then she's running all the time, and that sucker puts out some air!
