Howdy folks, especially you guys who have SAS'd a 2500hd..

A friend of mine wants to SAS a quad cab dmax truck, with a gm d60, and wants to run a 35x14.5, but like me, hates the skied the eff out look most SAS swaps gain you..

any advice? keep it low and sweet?

Links, they keep the axle positioned better than leafs do, plus you can cause the axle to move how you want it to somewhat.

Trimming? is that even an option, maybe a set of modified bushwackers?

we were thinking either radius arms or 4 link... I was thinking radius arm style, maybe with coilovers mounted to the arms instead of the axle, should be able to shorten up the suspension, but don't know how well it would work

What's he gonna do about the transfer case and the gm d60, they are on different sides. Radius arms and coils, like the old bronco/f-150 set up or the newer ford super duties, would ride nice and probably be easy to keep the height in check.

Pssssssssssssssssssst......did you see mine one here..?

Radius arms, coil spring, dual shocks......but a ford 60 with chevy outers and a np241 case.............pretty nice i must add...lol. Too tall for 35s but with shorter coils would fix that. I have new softer one inch lower springs to put in, there actually 6 inch lift bronco coils, the new ones are 4.5 lift coils. I get right at 8 inches of lift this way. Up travel is limited straight on but when flexed with the radius arms it moves alot more than you would think.

Heres a pic..or two:whistle:.....the coils are progressive rate so there meant to be togeather at the top, the wire shown is the abs tone ring kit on the 60 hubs.

I did a build of it here, Still not done tho. Drive able and it drives very well, no bumpsteer or wandering. But still no front shaft and it still has blocks in the rear. Was a little expensive but that depends on what way you wana go with it. Will be done before winter..

No prob...lol. Lots of little things although to it, take a look..

The high pinion is a real nice benefit, with the 60 sitting around 5-6 degrees it drives and steers great. Also there is alot less driveshaft angle. When using a drivers drop case not much extra has to be modded....like....the exhaust is all on the drivers side so it all has to be moved to put the pass drop case in there. Much more simple just to do drivers drop and only have to mod the crossover pipe slightly. Mine had to be raised up an inch to have alot of clearance.

Also its a Dana 60....lol.....i dont refer of it as a ford 60...lol. From what i seen it doesnt say for on it plus has all chevy brakes and outers.

Eh, your choice.

Superior Dana 60 > Inferior Dana 60.

Nice setup there. rob

I wouldn't recommend connecting coil-overs to the radius arms when its bearing the weight of a duramax, the geometry on a setup like doesn't seem like one that would be good for that kind of weight

Thanks.... the kit I bought from bloody knuckle garage also has a variety of coils to choose from. All kinds of spring rates depends on what you will do with it. They do ride and drive rather nice.....so really coil overs aren't needed. Choosing the drivers drop 60 will help alot but cost more, to me it was worth it. It was a 4 day and about 40...hours to do. That was to drive it in and drive it out...lol.

Shawn did one not very long ago, but used leavesinstead of links.

I forget how much lift but I remember 37" rubber fit nicely though.

Got a link, about a dozen bloody knuckle things on FB.

Look under Bloody Knuckle Garage, sorry can get a link with the cell.... Prob can later tho when im home. Mostly ford stuff tho, not many pics. A few of my ride tho...lol. On fullsize chevy theres a 90s tahoe done with his kit(was cage)

When i ordered mine i didnt get the shocks, steering or brakelines. I used bilsteins, ord and russel instead of paying shipping. Also if you google petersons 2500 cage offroad a white 02 comes up, thats where my idea to call em came from. To use his steering he uses all the ford stuff, when i used ord i had to round the corners off on the dana 60 crossover arm and notch it for the coil bucket when at full lock. Worked out real well.....
