i sold the blazer and bought a 4x4 98 tahoe vortec v8 etc etc.

the front diff is shoot and i wanna do a sas.

would the frame with be the same between a k5 (if so i can use a sas kit for a k5 on my truck)

someone said i have to use a ford axle and change the outers? ill be darned if theres going to be any ford parts on my chevy.

im completely stuck ive been looking for a kit to do it but with no luck.

if i found a sas kit for another gm truck for the same year it should work fine correct?

People use Ford axles because they are drivers side drop (the differential is on the drivers side) and the transfer cases in your Tahoe is drivers side drop. So if you don't want to use ford parts then you have to switch transfer cases which is more work and money that could be used elsewhere. Also with a Ford axle you get the clearance of a high pinion or reverse cut axle, be it a dana 44 or dana 60. I don't think that kit will work but there are lots of companies that make a SAS kit for your truck the one i can think of off the top of my head is offroad unlimited here is a link http://www.offroadunlimited.com/orustore/PC/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=17

using a ford axle i would have different bolt patterns. i need to change the knuckles and hubs to get back to chevy bolt pattern right.

and i was going to use a 14bolt ff in the rear.

what gear ratio would be good for daily with trail riding and mud

What size tires do you plan on running? That will really be the determining factor on gear ratio. Right now with my 33's and 3.08's, my K5 is a total dog, but I plan on putting in 4.10's early next year. The downside is my fuel mileage will suffer a little, but I will gain a lot more power when I am towing. Just some things to consider, but I would think if you are going to be near 33's in this one, 3.73 or close to it should be ideal for DD and trail riding, with some power left for the mud.

then go down to 5.13's or 4.88's and skip the 3/4 or 1/2 ton front and go strait to a Dana 60

It all depends on what you do with it, but not much, the shafts don't put up with much at all. So if you have big tires and actually wheel the thing you will get pretty good at swapping shafts. On the other hand if it is a mostly street rig you could get away with bigger

Depends on the year of the axle. Anything up to ...1999.5+ (I think) will work. Non-super duty, basically.

i was going to put 36's its my daily driver trail wise its sand and minor mud we just go shining and stuff
