Sasquatch

92 K3500 CCLB 454 TBI / 4L80E This is the rebuild of a rig that was purchased recently. This is to serve as a family tow rig that doesn't have a payment.
And do we have any detailed HD manual swap threads. I've been using the search feature but a lot of what I'm finding is nv3500 stuff

I love the way an NV4500 shifts. They can handle a shit ton of power in the truck pulling side of things too. I have an '02 F550 for my service truck at work with a ZF6 and it weighs 18K. I have always liked manual over auto and for the 7.3L super duty I definitely like the manual better than auto but they do shift a lot tighter and not as good as an NV4500 in my opinion as far as shifting an driving. They also are harder to find and repair. For ease of swapping I would just go NV4500 and you can just get a parts truck and swap everything right over.

You do have the wheelbase for it so you could go with a medium duty trans swap like an Eaton. Just find a similar year topkick and see what trans options they had then run a divorce mount t-case.

It's getting heavy. 9500lbs and it still has no tools in it.

Got the compressor and welder bolted down. Built a vise mount. I forget what the reciever mount was off of. Using a 2" reciever allows me to rotate or remove all together. A small flat section to use for whatever. One of the things I dont like about reciever mounts is the lack of a bench or somewhere to clamp a ground. The tailgate can be lowered with the vise in the reciever also. I also have always wanted a cylinder pin location for doing cylinder repacks in the field.

Heres something I learned today.

88 - 2000 14bff is 8x6.5 bolt patter with 14mm studs
My 83 dana 60 is 9/16" studs on 8x6.5.

That explained so many mental questions in my head about the wheel swapping I've done these last 6 months. I felt like an idiot when the guy at the tire store told me that. All I wanted was a set of lug nuts.

Does anyone have a single Weld wheel like mine in an 18x10?

Stripping window tint is quite difficult for a first timer. I was on the schedule to have the tint shop do everything, but when I realized the rear windows had the factory mirrored privacy. I wasn't ready to spend the money on new glass yet. So, I'll be doing my own tint attempt on the front doors in the meantime. I'll find a suburban to part out eventually and rob interior pieces also later on.

I was actually looking at the tint I had installed last year thinking "It would be a real pain in the ass if a person ever had to remove this."

Yeah. This tiny job came off in 2 layers. The tiny started peeling . Sections leaving the the adhesive backing in spots. Than when I tried to take the rest of it off, the two layers just continued.

There is a reason we pay professionals to do professional work. I'm gonna be pricing new/used glass and gasket for the entire truck. I'll probably just drop the new glass off at the tinters. You can see the difference in factory privacy and aftermarket tint. 5% looks good but man it's a pia to get off

The previous owners had something around 75% put on it. I'm not sure I even know what the point of 75% for anything but the windshield is.

2.5% on the back window and 5% on the sides. The rear doors have the "grey" stamped into the glass. I'm told they have to be replaced with the clear non privacy to fix the mismatch. But for now it will do its job of hiding the thousands of dollars of gear and keep the cab cooler.

I feel like this truck needs a winch and a nice deer killer front bumper.
It will have a similar setup to the Limo. The winch will sit behind the front hanger and the license plate will be where the cable comes out of. A deer killing bumper would be too heavy.

Had to wait for a log truck but needed to get off the pavement. It still flexes a bit even with the bumpstops and the heavy ass weighted box on the back. Being summer I can get away with the two wheel drive. It's nice to just shift the tcase into low and put the trans in drive. Tons of traction to climb the hills.
