87 c20 with a 4.3/465 combo. had a 14bsf too. fair amount of east coast cab rust, and wants $800.

i didn't know 3/4 tons came with V6s.
it's an ex-gov truck. do these have gov-locks?

gov lok is what existed in 87

dunno about the 4.3

you look under the hood on the emissions label for the engine size ?

or the 8th digit of the vin code?

or RPO sticker in glovebox ?

hmm

Yeah as far as i'm aware... you could only get a 6 in 1/2 tons. There are always special orders if you go through the right people. My old boss had an 8.1L fitted to his burb before it was an option.

i didn't check. that's what the guy selling it told me.

maybe the gov special ordered it. it'd be easy to lift the hood and count spark plugs.

what should the 8th digit of the VIN be?

Here's a chart I found online for decoding. It's for a Blazer but the codes should be the same for all the trucks.

Well I've seen quite a few 3/4 tons with 292's, but never a 4.3. Sounds like someone did a swap.

When I got my 85 C20 new, the 4.3 was the base motor I believe. The lovely 305 was optional.

a guy here in town has a dually which came as a frame truck(no box) so he could put a utility box on it and its got a 350 in it, most gutless wonder youll ever know
