Sawzall + Grade 8 bolts = lots of dead blades

Cut off wheel is much faster and cheaper than sawzall blades when they will reach. Almost must use a cut off wheel or torch on Grade 8 bolts, axle U bolts too. same thing when cutting a good weld long ways, kills sawzall blades.

You could also use a little cutting fluid on the blade, like wd-40 or tap-matic or air tool oil. Overheating a saw blade causes it to lose hardness and after that your done. Take your time, ignore the smoke and cut using a slow speed. This also works on drill bits and end mills and etc.

The last two posts had better suggestions than most all combined. To cut hard steel you must use cutting fluid, wd 40 sucks, it burns off real quick, but a tapping/ cutting fluid is the only way to go. the keep the blade cool and itll last 5 times longer and youll cut twice as fast. also for hardend stuf the only way to go if you dont have a torch is a grinder and cutoff wheel, fast and easy.

just get the grinder... even cheap HF cut off wheels will cut through a 1/2" bolt without to much difficulty.
