Hey guys,
I hope you are all doing well! Its been a while...

Well, the motor in the beast has been running like crap for the last couple of months. all new ignition system, but Im pretty sure I have a sticking valve. I have run 2 oil changes with marvel mystery oil and it has gotten better off and on, but still seems to run on 7 cylinders most of the time. I can really tell that it is dogging in the mornings when I start it up.

I heard on the street that a friend has a recently rebuilt 350, with only 3k miles on it. He swapped it out for a LS motor when he got one from a friend.

the motor comes with the following:

edlebrock victor jr intake
new fuel pump (454 pump for higher available flow)
water pump
mini torque starter
alternator
power steering pump
all brackets and pulleys
9:1 comp raitio
new pan
new crank
new balancer
not sure on cam specs, but he said that it is a bit larger than my current mild cam

Asking $600 bucks

PO recommends that I install a 2000 rpm stall converter like he ran on it.

I will need new rockers and motor mounts as well
(will also install the diy4x cross member when I have the motor out. Damn that sucked last time I changed the oil pan gasket)

What additional questions should I ask and what would you look out for?

Thanks guys, I hope you are doing well :)

So you guys might find this funny. (it pisses me off though)

This deal just got much more attractive. The guy that I am planning on buying the motor from took a look at the motor in my truck and said "hmmm, that plug on your block looks like you have a 305 motor". To which I replied, "youza crazy foo. This here is a 350 man!"

I couldnt sleep, thinking that I might have been shafted by the PO, so I went out and checked the stamp on my block and googled it. He was right, it's a 305 out of a 79 camaro. WTF>!

I guess the good news is that I should get a nice HP bump as well as some more torque to pull my 35s :/

Sorry, one more question. I have a brand new torque converter in my truck now, but it stalls around 1200 or so. The guy selling me the motor recommended that I put a 2000 rpm stall converter on it. What are your thoughts?

It's a daily / highway driver, but I have 4.* gears and 35" tires. Not sure if a higher stall would help me or hurt me...

You need to find out what cam is in the motor and get a converter that matches spec.
