I have two different sets of heads. Both are casting #462624, when I look up this casting # it says 76cc chamber, 1.72/1.5, 1.94/1.5 or 2.02/1.6 valves. Now my question is, how do I figure out which says the intake valve is? One of the pairs say B248 and one pair says L194 under the casting #. I'm pretty sure these numbers mean something but cant find anything on them... Thanks

My guess is that the 194 refers to the one that has the 1.94 in the description. Not sure on this of course.

2.02's intake and exhaust valves are nearly touching, 1.94's are right at 2mm apart and 1.72's are about 3 to 3.5mm's apart. The casting numbers are cryptic and usually need a machine shop with an experienced tech to tell you what your looking at.

If the motor has always been a truck motor your likely at 1.94's.

the best number id site I've found is
http://www.mortec.com/castnum.htm

More than likely they are 76 cc chambers, 1.94 intake, 1.5 exhaust - ie standard open chamber head.

The codes are letter for month "B" Feb, 24th, then the year ending in 8, 78 or 88?

So L194 = December 19th 74 or 84?

Hey look, I can count!

Sorry to say but that casting number was never offer in a 2.02/1.6 configuration. Those are light weight castings that commonly crack. They do come in both 1.94/1.5 and also 1.72/1.5 configuration though. If they were on a truck then they probably have the .375" exhaust valve stem diameter rather than the .343" of the car heads. They are 76cc chambers.
