The truck i was working on is a 94 GMC sierra but it has a 98 GM Vortec engine. The set up for the distributor is much the same and it's self timing, but i was getting code P1345 which i tracked down to the position and or cam setting of the dizzy which has to be +/- 2*. The only way to do this is with a scanner that reads cam retard. i used my buddys snap on scanner and got it right at zero. Truck runs great.
Also the 7000 has helped me since i got it. it does have the cd for the drivers in order to upgrade but it only works with windows xp, so no upgrades for me. It also has the battery tester but it doesn't hook up to the 7000 it only works with the 6000 do to having a RJ45 plug and the 7000 only has the serial plug. I cant complain since it was all together for 100.00.
