I ran the head casting number on Mor-tec and came up with this:
"3931063....68-69...oval..CLOSED..396, 402, 427, 101cc chamber"

This verifies what PO told me about the engine "396 from a 69 Chevelle."But i dont know what the rest of it means? (Oval, closed, 101cc) Anyone know what exactly this means? are these "good" heads? Can you explain this to me please

101 is the size of the combustion chamber in cubic centimeters. Oval is the shape of the ports. I believe oval ports are good for low end torque and rectangular are better for high RPM hp. I don't know what closed means.

closed chamber. Not good for flow but usually higher compression. Not big block knowledgeable to say how 101cc will be.
