I got a carb and headers but what else is need.. I know accessory brackets and a crankshaft pulley. What else?

Corvette valve covers?

Probably motor mounts,
make sure the radiator is up to the extra heat,
extra fuel supply, should have a 3/8 line for a big block,
Flywheel if balancing is different between the 2 engines.

How can I tell what type of vehicle this came from. The numbers on the intake say 6 13 85 which I'm assuming is the date. And it has HI PERF stamped on it in multiple places. But will one of the numbers on it tell me what kind of vehicle it came from?

Make certain that it is a 454 because the flexplate/flywheel is different than every other BBC. The date code on the intake does indicate that it was built June-13-1985 so from that alone should be a 454 IF the intake is the original one from that engine. There is a casting number on the driver side bell housing area of the block which will get us in the ball park of what you're dealing with but there is a stamped in letter/number combo on a machined pad of the block just in front of the passenger side cylinder head which will tell EXACTLY what it came from.

That is cast into all BBC's, really means nothing.

For the accesories, it's easier to find a newer SBC serpentine setup than a complete BBC setup (v-belt or serpentine). This is the kit I'm using on my 454.

looks like alot of picking up to do at junk yards... I don't have an AC or Smog pump so I'm not sure if that would work for me, Just powersteering and alternator

I'm running the same line from the factory with a 305. I haven't noticed any starvation of fuel.

Alright I'm ready to swap her in and wanted to know what all I can reuse from my 350? Flex plate? Torque converter? Accessory Brackets? Engine Mounts? also does anyone know a good walkthrough online of a 350 to 454 conversion?

The motor mounts can be reused. So can the starter (if you get the same size flexplate). The BBC is balanced differnt that an SBC, so you will need a new flexplate. Torque converter can be reused. The accessory brackets will need to be sourced somewhere. I have heard of some people modifying SBC stuff, never tried it myself. The distributor is the same between SBC and BBC, so that can be reused (even through you have one). If you have a Q-jet, you could reuse it depending on the size of it.

I don't know of any sites showing a SBC to BBC conversion. But it's been done enough here, if you search you should find some info. It'll drop right inplace of the old motor, it's the small stuff that takes the time.

Well the flexplate doesn't line up on my torque converter, what should I do, it's mounting up to a TH350

Did you buy a new flex plate? Install it correctly (even though I think it's just the ring gear that is offset)? How is it not lining up?

some flexplates/convertors are made with a single bolt pattern...some flywheels have a dual bolt pattern to accomodate the 2 different torque convertor patterns.

Yeah new flexplate I'll get a picture real quick, they are the same size and three of the six holes line up but it's the wrong three, the
three holes on the old one that the bolts went threw don't line up

Old flexplate infront of new one

Yellow circles are the holes that line up, the yellow boxes are the holes where the it bolts up

Both are dual pattern flexplates. I don't know why neither set of holes are lining up. I'm stumped on this one.

There are only 2 different flaxplates for a BBC of your vintage. One flexplate only has one set of holes for the convetor and the other has 2 sets of holes. On the flexplate with 2 sets of holes one set will be on a 11.5" bolt circle while the other set is on an 11.75" bolt circle. It doesn't matter which set of holes was previously used you will be using the set that lines up with YOUR convertor. The previous person probably had a different bolt pattern on their convertor than you have on yours.

Well none of my holes line up :( do I need a different flexplate?

I don't know what to tell you then because AFAIK there are only 2 different convertor bolt patterns.

I'm assuming you've had the flexplate in your hand and laid it against the convertor to be 200% sure they don't line up with one set of holes?

Take a very close measurement of the convertor from the very center of the convertor to the center of 1 of the bolt hole lugs on the convertor. At least this way i'll be able to figure out what the bolt circle of your convertor is.
