School me on building a 383 stroker

Alright i've decided that my dog of a 350 needs to go, eventually. I've already got another 350sbc to rebuild. How much should i bore it over?
What exactly would the right combination be for a strong (high torque) but still fast motor? Which "kit should i buy" and is there a place thats better than others? I'm thinking i should put new heads on the motor while i've got it torn down, any suggestions on what are best? I've read that "the longer rod the better" how would you figure out what is the right lenght for my application? Does i vary on the heads or what?

You can just buy one now from GM with a warranty

When I get around to mine , a few years from now , it will be long rod , aftermarket forged crank , and a 88 and newer roller block with the heads etc to be determined after I decide whether it should go in a truck or my A-body .
