So I'm educating myself on some towing/receiver hitch stuff and am scratching my head a bit at the moment on this one.
The receiver is stamped "2000# max trailer weight/200# max tongue load" on the dead weight side. Doesn't seem like all that much capacity.
The head scratching part is that it has an electrical brake controller, which to my basic towing mind, would imply fancier/heavier trailers. I'm not talking about epic tows or anything here, but what got me headed down this path is that I'm scheming on a homebrew receiver mounted spare carrier (33" tire) that would still terminate in a 2" receiver so as to pull a ~1K# (unloaded) utility trailer around. I figure the spare and metal mount would come in around 100#, so that takes the rated 200# tongue down to 100#? Heck, even without said spare carrier, just doesn't seem like much capacity.
I realize that the short wheelbase (let alone lifted) is the overarching concern with Blazer towing, but those ratings seem pretty low.
Somehow I hear Foghorn Leghorn in the background admitting "figure's don't lie..."
