Looking at transmissions for my chevelle. Wanted to go T56, then decided I wanted a tko 600, now a ZF S6-40 popped up on Facebook market place.

It's going behind a big block. Plan for the car is mostly regular driving, hopefully daily at some point. Maybe an occasional road course.

Anyone know anything about them?? Pros? Cons? Good idea? Bad idea?

I don't know anything about those particular ones but all the ZF truck transmissions I have had experience with are really well built bulletproof transmissions.

I think I'm going to roll the dice and get it. It seems like it's a fair price, even though I don't know of the internal condition. Everything I've read makes them sound almost indestructible, but if it does break, it's expensive to fix. I'll just have to clearance the bellhousing for the bigger flywheel it seems. And maybe try to find a concentric throw out bearing/slave cylinder to replace the goofy pull type clutch fork.
