SCOOBYDANNN
1/2 ton status
Soooo I figured after 16 years of wrenching on the truck and 13 yrs of being a part of this forum (off and on, mostly off.) I should document my build.
This will be an ongoing thread as I dont think I will ever stop messing with it. What we have here today is
1974 Chevy Blazer (full vert)
Frame boxed completly from front to rear (unfortunately no pics) Full cage to frame in 8 points all .120HREW
Checker's special sb 350 with typical bolt ons. (intake, Shorty headers,
Mild RV cam (forgot specs but have them in file folder) Q-Jet for now.
TH400, 1st gear lockout, mildly built, some fancy TC because I killed the splines trying to get a STaK case to pop out of gear (more on that later)
STaK 3 spd monster box with 5.44 low.
Front Dana 60. 4.56. Lock-rite. Yukon 35 spline outers, stock inners. Spicer joints. ORD Crossover. WTO Hydro Asst. .250 tierod. Warn hubs (street) STaK Drive slugs (fun)
Rear 14 bolt Van axle (bent) 4.56. Welded. pretty much stock. RuffStuff specialties traction bar
Driveshafts are JE Reel. .180 ft/re 1410(case)/1350(axle) rear with extended travel spline (dont know but can check) front is a 1350 BAMF (case)/1350 (axle) also extended spline.
Ford F150 rear springs in the rear (57") inboarded on RuffStuff Specialties mounting hardware. Bilstein 5100 14" travel shocks
Chevy k10 Suburban rear springs in front (56") on Hill Extended shackles in stock location, custom from mount. Sway-A-Way 2.0 14" travel emulsion (coilover ready)
39.5x13.5x17 Iroks mounted on Raceline Monster Beadlocks. (no wheeling pic..part of V3.1) In the pics you will se H2 wheels (HATED these wheels)
Last wheeling trip about 3 yrs ago

I think I should start the build with whare this all started
I started off with a 1983 Chevy k10 Silverado Stepside. Had I known what I do now I would have NEVER cut the truck up, but none the less here is what she looked like.

I cry a little bit when I see that
From this point on I proceeded to remove the bed and doors, swapped 14 bolt in and put 37" Wrangler MT's..(looking for pics)
When I got the 60 it all went down hill..I learned how to bend tube and weld. At the end of V2 she had the 1 tons, 42's on weld-on beadlocks, ORD doubler and the first go around on the TH400.

Small pic but you get the idea.
When V2 died the frame was twisted like a twizler, the frame rear of the cab had split and did a little dance going down the street. It was time to swap stuff. I had origionally planned a 4-link but my welding and associated skills were not up to par so I started over with a new shell. It was a 1974 blazer.
V3 was going to be built right. The first thing I did was box the frame from front to rear. No more twizzler frame. I welded each and every panel inside the frame as opposed to outside. it took a LOT longer than outside but i believe it to be much stronger as the twisting forces are acting on the weld AND the plate as opposed to just the weld. Once the body was put back on I bent up a cage, sliders, cage, moved the gas tank above the frame and painted it Bitch Boy Blue (what everyone called it). Dovetailed the front and rear, fabbed up some new mounts for the doubler and traction bar. For some odd reason I swapped the 42's for 38's

I wheeled it quite a bit in this form

V3.0 Hasn't changed much from fromt V2 but painted it black, added the SAW's front, swapped the doubler to a STak, swapped the 15 beadlocks for 17 h2's and 39" Iroks

And here we are on V3.1
Drivetrain is still the same (for now) and I am just cleaning up the interior. I want to drive this down the street, down the freeway. and be relatively comfortable (given the palet to work with) First up was the back end. Mostly because I could mess up and not really have to look at it.
