Local buddy has a 1980 scottsdale for sale. Has a 6 inch susp/3 inch body lift. sittin on 39.5 boggers. Still has 6 lug axles with 4.10s and a turbo350 trans. its a good lookin truck and hasnt been mddin much, but has a 12bolt rear i think. He's selling cheap, is it worth buying?? wish i had pics, but not yet. only concern i have is those monster tires on half ton axles. Ive never run over a 37 on half ton axles.

yeah, its pretty cheap. figured i may get it for a DD and playing around in mudholes around here. nothing crazy. Its about time to put my current k5 to rest. just wondering how quick those 39s are gonna tear up that 12bolt rear and (i think) d44 front

ive got 10 bolts and 38.5 15 15 tsl's with the same lift under my k5 and its fine for general dirt roads mud holes ect as long as i dont get too crazy ive hit up the local mud bogs just to let friends and girls ride. granted ive got cromo shafts in both axles and detroits. a 6 lug 14 bolt semi float for the rear can be found too to keep the same wheels

not really wanting to do another axle swap. my k5 has a 1 ton rear and a 3/4 d44 front on 37s and it does well, but that truck originally had 10 bolts. Im not sure of the strength of a 12 bolt rear like the one on this scottsdale. i cant imagine that they are much stronger than a 10 bolt, minus the govlock. 14 bolts are cheap i know, but anyone run 37s or bigger on a 12 bolt/d44 6lug that didnt break stuff?? 39.5 boggers are BIG, but i dont plan on doing anything else but street drive and muddy woods around my house.

My truck has 38.5 boggers on it, and it's a 3/4 ton with the 10 bolt front. First time I took the truck wheeling, without trying I ripped the ears off the stub shaft. I think that was a fluke, cause I wasn't even really beatin' on it, but it did hop a couple times when got it stuck. I wheeled it again after I replaced the shaft, and didn't have any problems. I'm thinking the joint was bad or there was a crack or something in the stub. Truck has a stock 350 and a 4-speed, and I don't really beat on my vehicles. But, if you take it easy, I think you will be OK. Shoot, there was a truck near me that was SAS'd with 49" Iroks on 10 bolts front and rear....

Guy was an absolute moron, daddy gave him the money to build it. I haven't seen the truck in years. I was originally a 2wd, then lifted, then SAS'd, but don't think it ever saw anything other than pavement. I plan on running mine for as long as I can. I have a 60 front, but needs some work. When I went wheeling this past weekend, while everyone else was having problems getting around in 4wd, I was going everywhere they were in 2wd....open rear no less!!!! Gotta love boggers....:pimp:

I broke 2 12 bolts on 35s and then decided on 3-4 ton conversion. The 12 bolt isn't much stronger than a 10 bolt. Slightly bigger ring gear and axleshafts. I believe pinion is very close to the Same size. If you buy it I would sell the bigger tires and buy something smaller if you don't want to swap axles and have fun. Also the front end bearings and ball joints won't hold up long to the 39s either.
