Does anyone have any idea what a k5 weighs approx with out motor trans transfer case. What I am trying to figure out is it worth scrapping or just telling someone to come pick it up for free and get it out of here...our local yard is pay .11 per pound scrap metal. I of cousre would seperate out the aluminum...

I scrapped a 2002 ford ranger regular cab, just frame and cab completely stripped and got 90 bucks, worth it if you have a scrap yard close.

Depending on year, a K5 is going to weigh around 4600-4700 lbs in stock form (4X4).

4600-700R4(~140lbs)-305/350(~550lbs)-NP TC (80-100?)

=~3800 lbs. Still heavier than your average car. As Blazer74 said, if the yard is close by it is worth it. Some places will pick them up, but they pay less. If you want to help out a good cause and get a tax write-off, charities will often come and pick them up too, although I think they want ones that are relatively complete.

You are looking at $300-$400 if you take it in. They'll unload it.
Most yards want the tires off, at least a large hole in the fuel tank. I'll just assume the freon is long gone.

Pile it full of unwanted scrap metal, and pee on the seats ;)

In a few weeks it'll be a new Honda.
