So I got a gasket kit for my 79 205 and it didnt come with the right star seal thing that goes behide the flange on the front output shaft. Any body know where I can get one?

I just went and took a look. I do have one 30 spline rubber washer/seal left.

i think there are 2 different types, can you take a picture?

The proper thing to do is install the serrated seal. The RTV does work though, just makes it difficult to deal with later when you have to remove the RTV.

that seal you took the picture for me is the same one i got. it doesnt fit tight b/c the shaft gets smaller right before the splines start

sorry for all these random questions but also that front out put shaft can move back and forth a half an inch or so. is that normal??

The seal is the correct seal and it does work. The seal will locate on the OD and it gets crushed by the Yoke once installed.

The output shaft movement while the yoke is off is normal. When the Yoke is installed and the nut tightened then the endplay is controlled.

:bow::bow: thanks alot man, i really appreciate all the time you've taken to answer my questions

No problem. Also, i may have come across a Chevy 205 speedo drive gear. I'll find out in a couple days.

I got that rubber piece in the seal kit I bought for my truck...should be pretty easy to get, IF you can find a counterman that knows their stuff. We have a place that deals in transfercase and transmission parts, any place like that should.
