My 1984 K5 seat belts dont really retract , is there anything I can do to fix this or help it.

and i can't get my driverside to extend without a ratcheting fight. i guess i need to find a place to buy new or used, but i'll watch your thread here for ideas.

Mine are the same way. Bought a set of used belts and they have the same issue, so I never put them in. I'd think that getting some lube into the ratchet mechanism would do the trick, but I haven't messed with it yet. If I have a bunch of slack in the belt, opening the door usually takes care of it. Now, getting the belts to catch in the event of an accident is a whole other issue. I'm confident mine wouldn't.

Lots folks have these issue. Mine so far are just not retracting well.

I had success fixing this problem by lubing the mechanism.

I hate my seatbelt too, i should just go back to the lap belts only that came with my 74. The only reason why i went to the shoulder belt setup was for the police to see that I have my belt on.
