I'm 6 foot something, 350 pounds plus and with the driver side seat all the way back in my 1990 4x4 suburban I still have to have the steering column all the way up and still get rubbing on my little fat belly. I'm wanting to keep a stock style bucket seat from this era of burban or from the 92-94 era as the design of the upholstery pretty much matches. I've been trying to find some seat brackets that would move the seat back a little bit more but most seen to require the use of an aftermarket racing bucket seat which I don't want in the burban. I don't possess the skills or equipment to build brackets that would meet my standards in aesthetics so I'm looking at buying something that simply bolts on with minimal work. Anybody know of anything?

I've pulled the seat out and you could move the seat back on the brackets as far as the front goes. There is not enough steel on the rear of the brackets to drill holes and remount the seat further back on the brackets. Something would have to be made. As far as just moving the bracket back on the floor I really don't want to do that as the floor is not flat.

only way i know of is to take the seat out cut/weld/modify the one that you have.

if it was just a couple inches you where looking for, you could look up a local welder/fabricator, bring him the seat and bracket and I'm sure they could fab up a pretty quick adapter for the sliders.. maybe a couple hr's of work, tops.. might need to raise it an inch or so tho to access nuts...

but, keep in mind, the farther back you put it, the more it fulcrums and leverages an already weak floor, notorious for sheetmetal ripping around those mounting holes.. factor in the svelte physique.... ;)

I've got family and friends that are welders for a living, I can weld but not enough that I'm going to trust it so I'll leave that up to somebody else.

I was wondering about the floor ripping also. That happened to the blazer I had. I may just have to get a smaller steering wheel and deal with it. I was hoping to put a 12 valve Cummins and an NV4500 tranny in it but don't feel like I have the room to be able to work the clutch. My left leg is already in a weird position for me.

I've also thought about selling this burban and getting a newer one. Though I don't want too.

My Dad modified a telescopic column to fit in the truck (I think those were Corvette/Cadillac typically).

IMO telescopic is a more useful feature than tilt, and should have been offered. Height is just as much a factor as weight, tilt does nothing for height, at least in my case.

Never done so, but I'd be curious to know if any of the car (or S10) columns were shorter from the column-to-dash bolt location, to the steering wheel.

Seat bracket modification is going to be easier for sure, this is just another option.

Get yourself some 1/4by 1.5 flat bar, take your seat out, remove your tracks, and drill and bolt the flatbar into the original mountin holes in the seat, the flatbar should have a extra 2 inches in front of the front hole mounting the flatbar to the seat frame, then you drill and tap the new mounting holes for the track into the flatbar roughly a 1 and 3/4 inches in front of the bolt holding the flatbar to the seat, this way you use all the original mounting holes, and you will be amazed at what 1 and 3/4 inches will do for you,and it will be easy to put back to stock should you sell the rig

Anybody ever used the Corbeau seat brackets and seats in a burban? I emailed them and they said they make and sell some brackets to make their seat brackets go back farther but their seat brackets only work with their seats. I've thought about different seats in it but not looking for so much of a racing bucket type of seat. They have one or two styles that look more like an everyday seat and don't have as much bolstering in the sides. One style is the Moab, I don't remember the other style.
