Hey all!

I'm in the final stages of having my 1972 frame off restomod complete! I am having a heck of a time finding a reputable weather stripping and seat foam supplier. The only place I can find thorough options is LMC Truck. Do you have any experience with their weather stripping (pn - 38-6249 and seat foam (pn - 38-2373 & 38-2356).

Appreciate your feedback/experience with these products from LMC and any other options you've found for these items!

I used they’re window weatherstripping kit on my 90. It worked well. I’m not sure how it carries over to a first gen though.

Hit up Wes at classic heartbeat for your weatherstripping. He’ll have the best stuff that is available for our rigs.

As far as the seat foam, I’d either talk to Wes about it, or hit up a local upholstery shop for it. I had the utility buckets reupholstered for 500.00 bucks locally. They did a great job and add a little bolster on each side of your hips so you wouldn’t slide around on a huge seat top.

Nice looking build. What color are you going with?

I think Wes will be selling the PRP stuff, they are coming out with press on door seals.

I didn’t hit the link the first time. Figured you sent him to PRP seats. They look like a pretty cool company with some nice stuff. Do you have these on your rig now?

Yep, the press on door seals are supposed to be way better than the glue on. I’m read on the 67-72 forum that someone made some or used some from another year and spliced on the top section where the top bolts to.

I got seat foam from brothers trucks. It was good quality, maybe same supplier as LMC. But I’d definitely have someone recover the seats. Even the replacement covers aren’t so easy to install and get looking right.

Not yet.

Sounds like they are for double wall top only and not single wall? Not sure what the difference is being the only place they would meet are at the very top of the windshield frame? You could just cut that part off if different I would think?

I have LMC door weather stripping and had used the their hard top seals. In both cases I've been underwhelmed. The top always leaked and whistled, and the door stripping separated on both sides where it bolts to the top. I was able to glue it but shouldn't have to do that with less than a years use.
Heard good things about PRP like others have said. Like the progress, keep going!

I meant the door weather seals that run along the bottom of the door. I haven’t seen anything for the top seals above the window.

Dang. No love from @skunked . I'm on the fence about ordering seat foams or having a local shop redo the seats like Mike did. Either way, mine'll be on the todo list for 2019. Assuming I ever get it on the road. :haha:

He didn’t mention @Greg72 either. Understandable though, with his lack of participation in fun activities lately.

Funny you should mention that....

I was thinking today that my zero-mile KM2s are going to be considered too old to be roadworthy and safe by the time I’m ready to drive.....

Last I checked the price was up around $600 ea.... so I’ve got THAT going for me. Maybe when the time comes I’ll reach out to BFG and see if they’d be willing to do anything to help get me some “freshies”.

I fabricated upper door seals at the top attachment, where the water always poured in, out of half-inch, pressure-sensitive backed neoprene. Two layers was about right. Cut it large and whittle it down to size. It is squishy enough to compress but still expands where it needs to.

Nice detailing on the frame, your off to a great start in my opinion.
In regards to parts sources we have the ACI USA made seat foam instead of the lower quality imported foam most have and we carry all of the Blazer weatherstrip seals, grommets, body mounts etc... which includes all of the Precision manufactured seals for the Blazer / Jimmy. You can find our seat upholstery on following page of our website

The press-on Blazer / Jimmy door opening seals are due out later this month to sometime in July we expect based on latest information from them. I'll try to remember to post up here when we receive word. Keep up the great work!!
