Has anyone ever seen this done or personally built a frame for this: I have a fairly nice condition 1975 K5 that isn't running and wanted to use the rear seat from it in my 1970 K5 but doubt it'll match right up with the mounting holes.

I would've loved to use the front seats too but even if they fit I fear I won't be able to find the lower latching machanism from the front passenger fold-forward seat in the swap because someone stole mine out of the 1975 while it was in cheap storage. Lesson learned on cheap storage...

The rear seat is pretty simple.....just 4 evenly spaced brackets across the back. A few seconds with a measuring tape should confirm whether the hole spacing on the '75 seat matches the hole spacing in your rear floor area.

In the front of the rear seat, there are two "?" shaped holddown clamps that go over a tubular corner leg arrangement to clamp it to the floor. If you still have the clamps, it might be possible to use them again on the later-model seat.... worst case you might need to weld a couple of plates and nuts to the underside of the floor in the correct position.

Front seats? Well I have no idea how interchangeable the stock hardware is from 69-72 to the later models.. but it sounds like you are missing the latch anyway and those aren't easy to find. You might be better off building a simple set of new rails to adapt the hole patterns... but the harder part will be getting the "flip forward" part to work again if you want that functionality.

I'll have to get back in there once the 1st gen gets here, can't wait! I loved the '75 but ultimately the older K5's stole my attention and once I saved enough up I had to dive in. Thanks for the reply and I'll be sure to post how the seat adaptation goes once I get it sorted out.

Depending on your intended use for the truck, another idea is to use a fold-and-tumble seat from a much later K5. You'll need to cut out the latching mechanism and weld that into the floor, but you'll get a LOT of useable storage space without having to unbolt and physically remove the rear seat every time.

That's definitely another option I've been looking at. I need to find a good donor blazer at a local pick n pull and learn a little something about metal work!

just recently I was looking at a 3rd row seat out a suburban. found a few in the local junkyard and I seem to recall someone doing a writeup about how they adapted the brackets to their blazer seat. I'd love to make it easier to remove myself.
