As long as I've had my '88 K5 the doors have always been tough to close. It's been smacked on the driver's side door in the past so I just attributed the hard closing to that and simply being old and saggy.
A few weeks ago I decided to finally take a look at it and I've discovered that those little spring loaded seatbelt pins that come through the pillar right above the door striker are bent and now instead of getting pushed into the mechanism when the doors close they get bent back between the door and the frame where they bind and cause the hard closing.
I've tried bending them back but at this point the plastic is too cracked and deformed to make any difference. The question is, can I just cut these flush with the door frame or will it prevent the seatbelts from locking up in case of a rollover?

) but I wanted to make sure. Plus they don't even work now so it's not like I'm losing anything.
