What do you guys think, im gonna be running harnesses with a roll cage and want an affordable seat that isnt cheap but it doesnt have to be the best. Looking to spend under 400 bucks for 2.

So far i was decided on 2 of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g1159-2/media/images

But just today i talked to this guy and his still has these: http://albany.craigslist.org/pts/3575483475.html

The only thing im worried about, is the color actually haha. Im gonna have red harnesses, and most likely a red or black roll cage. And the truck is blue. I dont want it to look like a mismatched ricer lol.

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Sway my opinion either way? Im sure the corbeau seats are nicer, but they are also cloth...which worries me if they got wet or dirty. Whereas the leather would clean off...

Edit: or do i spend a little more and get a seat that i know is good: http://www.quadratec.com/products/24226_X0XD_PG.htm#

I would not buy those corbeau CL seats unless u get to sit in it first and make sure it fits you ok.

Im a big guy, and riding in one in my roommates race car was not fun after about 5 minutes.

Not sure what model his is, but try it before you buy it.

Do you have any truck/van conversion places in NY?

I got some new superduty seats for $40 each in IN...worth the trip for me, not sure if you have anything like that close to you though?

yeah, are you hooked on race seats? These look real nice, hold me side to side, and were under $100 for the pair. :D 2002 WRX

What type of wheeling are you planning for? If you are going to be in the truck all day, comfort is very important. Racing seats for cars are not advisable. Suspension seats are ideal for wheeling.

for cheapest suspension seat, I'd look at corbeau baja ss's... or at a bit more, PRP's bottom end stuff, Kerts a dealer...

I wouldn't run those race seats in a hotrod, let alone a truck... plus, as mentioned most seats run small, keep that in mind.. my prp's are extra wide and fit me perfect at 6' 1", 225...

I would recommend suspension seats as well. Been running them for 8yrs now and I wouldn't consider anything else. I've had a PRP premier high back and a PRP daily driver. I prefer the Daily Driver for my use. I actually replaced my high back with a Beard seat I found on craigslist that is very similar the the PRP daily driver. Both of those are 2" wider models.

For rear seats I also have some of the cheap seats from Jeep Swag on Pirate. They are okay for the price but the upholstery seems to be wearing out quicker. The side bolsters are lower than even the PRP daily driver seats and they are okay for me to sit in even tho they are not wide versions.

Polyperformance has Beard seats similar to the Corbeau seats in your last link for $200 and free shipping.

I have cage behind mine for the harness mounting. So reclining is not an option. Mine Re on sliders.

I don't think any seats come with sliders, at least not that I've seen. Generally they run about $45 each.

I don't mind the lack of a reclining back. I have the seat mounting frame built to put the seat at an angle I'm comfortable with which is about 1" higher in the front.

I use sliders because I don't have a tilt wheel and it makes it easier to get in and out if I can slide the seat back. Plus my wife drives from time to time and she needs the seat further forward than I do.

100% spring for suspension seats. racing seats and suspension seats are two different things. and the first time you spend a few hours bouncing around on a suspension seat, you'll immediatly understand the difference.

^^^^^^^^^^^^exactly that.
x2 :waytogo:

the ring wont see tons of wheeling. Mostly on road stuff and camping and up to the lake and stuff. Im on a pretty strict budget so im really trying to weigh this out. The summit seats are the best deal in my eyes and they come with sliders so that will save another 100 bucks...but corbeau is a good brand and ive heard good things...

Go to Race-dezert.com and take a look through the classifieds. If you are not in a hurry, they turn up at a great price.

If you have the patience, I found the seat I'm sitting in now for $150 on craigslist and even talked the guy down to $125. And it's a Beard seat in very good condition. I see seats for sale on Pirate4x4 all the time.

These are the cheapest suspension seats I've seen. http://www.jeepswag.com/empi/buy2/ I have a set for the rear seat in the K5. They are okay. I think they would hold up better if you have a cover to put over them when not in use, particularly when you take the doors off like I do.

Don't forget to check other off road sites classifieds as well. They pop up on Pirate4x4 often. And YES, suspension seats all the way.

Fixed back are good if you take time fitting them corectly

I like the fixed back suspension seats.:D
Driver seat is on a slider, the other 3 are not.
I even made the rear ones flip up for better access:D

2 were just under $400.00.

There are many options with your price point in mind.
Depends on what you really prefer.:dunno:
