I can’t really afford right now to get a 1st gen truck that’s buttoned up so I am looking to start in the hobby with a clean second gen.

I found a nice 1982 that won’t take a ton of work to get reliable and clean enough for my use.

One question I have is does anyone sell a good roll bar for these things? Plan on driving with passengers in the back and TOP down periodically, and I envision a roll bar with shoulder belts mounted but Google search isn’t showing me many examples of the trucknwith this off let alone with a roll bar and belts.

I don’t want a full cage type, just a roll bar close to the cab. Also hope to get one where the cap fits over it.

Is this a thing?

New and not embarrassed to admit it!

Thanks!

Check out Diy4x.com, they offer prebent/ prenotched kits. Several of us have them, great kits.

Edit: Diy4x will sell partial kits if that’s all you want.

Even back in the day when these trucks were new, roll bar options were pretty slim. What was out then was pretty thin and not what I'd be hoping to save me in the event of a rollover.

I'd talk to diy4x noted above and tell them what you want. It will be built out of the right stuff. Keep this in mind though it will not be a bolt in affair. Some assembly required, welder time too.
