Ok heres the setup. 77 K5 350 mild cam th 350 tranny stock np203 transfer with 3.73 gears runing 37 inch tires on military H1 wheels with magnesium inserts. I have little to no bottom end from the stop but then again this isnt a drag car this i know but when i get up to about 60-65 MPH i start runing out of get up and go. Is this tranny slip or something in my slush box NP203 or am i just slinging too much tire for my gear ratio? i know there are a lot of variables but im just looking for a little insight of where to start looking.

Do a compression check on the motor.

Check the level and quality of the tranny fluid...if it's slipping it'll smell burnt and be darker red, to almost rust brown.

Those are definitely not the most ideal gears for that tire size.

You definitely need more gear. I've got 4.56s, a 427 and a 4 speed ahead of my 37" Humvees and I wouldn't want any less motor, or any less gear.

I have a 350 bolted to a 465 with 3.73 gears and 31's, and the poor thing runs out of steam at about 65 or so.:doah::haha:

Definately need more gear, 4.56 or so would be good.

Thank you all for the inpput 3 out of three mentioned gears . and since the tranny and everything else seem to pull good in the low RPM range or under load i will assume it is most likely gears. ive got the starting point i was looking for. once again saved by the collective knoledge of the forum. Thanks All!

with 1 to 1 final ratio on the trans and 37s you are going to need at least a 4.56 to 1 ratio to get close to stock gearing with the bigger tires.what rpm are you running at at 65.when i had 35s and 3.73 i was about the 2300 range.now with 4.10 im around the 2500 range at 65.i dont really want to gear any lower than that.at 4.56 youd be spinning around 2500 rpm with the 37s.just something to think about. that should be pretty close to what you need to get it "feeling right".
