Explain how this could happen. :dunno: Several weeks ago my burb started shaking intermittently when braking especially braking hard. It got worse and worse until I knew I had to fix it. I assumed it was just warped rotors, so I was waiting until this weekend so the hubby would be home for a second vehicle to run the rotors to the parts store to get turned. So today I drove about 30-40 miles into and around town and back. Funny thing, I didn't have any shaking when I braked expect very slightly one time when I was turning left while braking. It was smooth as glass every other time and very mild the one time it vibrated at all. How could they have gotten better by themselves? What could have been the problem? Should I still pull them and have them machined?

Not a brake problem.
Warped rotors generaly have a pulsating pedal.
They're juice brakes which is a hydraulic system. Any variations in the rotors will be felt at the pedal.
And it doesn't go away.
I would start out by inspecting the steering & suspenion first.
Tie rods, ball joints ect.
Check spring u-bolts if it has had suspenion work.
Check wheel bearings.

Shakin when yer brakin is usualy a sign of worn or loose steering & suspenion componets.

I just went through this on my Tahoe, I went through a set of pads in a month because I put them in on a sunday and could not get the rotors cut.

The brakes were fine for a while, then started shaking badly for about 2 weeks, and then stopped shaking for a couple days, and the next day I felt metal grinding. Maybe the vibration you felt was metal to metal.
It's $10 a rotor at the shop I use, so it's worth it to me getting them smoothed out even if they don't feel too grooved.

You can hot spot the rotors and it will grab and cause a vibration. I had that happen to me. It would come and go but would always return. I got the rotors turned and replaced the pads and never had the problem again.

Looks like I'll pull them, have them turned and grab a new set of pads. Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. :D
