Okay I have a 86 truck that I am needing to sell its in pretty good shape but has some surface rust on it. You guys think I should give it a quick rattle can job?

Also its a 1 ton with 3/4 ton axles I don't want to put too many words in the local thrifty nickel as they charge by the word I think I will just list it as a 3/4 ton.

Now the questionable question, it smokes really bad when you start it, runs extremely well after it runs for about 5 mins. Is there anything out there you have used to reduce the smoking at start up. I don't want to be dishonost but it really does run good only uses about half a quart every 2500 miles I am afraid the amount of smoke at start up will scare poeple off.

I wouldn't paint it. I think that will make folks think you are hiding bad body work or serious rust issues. As for the smoke on start up, does it smoke bad when you crank it up again after its warm?

I would not paint it. The smoke sounds like bad valve seals. You can get oil treatments (STP) that will help it but not fix it.
