Selling CTD Flatbed or no flatbed?

I don't know what you owe but that is a perfect example of why a person should take care of something they use to work with and drive everyday, especially when it wasn't their money that bought it.

I hope you don't owe a lot, because I doubt it's worth much with the condition it's in. If you would have been a little more carefull and kept the truck in decent shape you probably could sell it fairly easily, get decent money, and maybe even a little to stuff in your pocket that was extra after paying the lender off.

I honestly think you will have an extremely hard time selling it. That or you will have to dump it for dirt cheap. I don't know of anyone that wants something with a completely dented up body with holes in it, even contractors want a truck that is in fair shape so they don't look unprofessional when going to do a job.

I'm not attacking your manhood, trying to shoot you down, or even tick you off. I'm just laying it down the way I see it, no offence to anyone.

I say fix it up some (the right way, not a bunch of bondo) so someone will actually be interested in it that has a little bit of cash, or sell it to a wrecking yard for parts as is because I doubt you can get more out of it selling it.

give the money you get out of it to the lender, finish paying it off (after it's already gone), and hopefully learn to be a little easier on the next truck so you don't loose a bunch of cash. :wink1:

Yah, well I know that now...20/20 hindsight. It's not like I did it on purpose. Nobody likes to be between a rock and a hard place. There's more stuff to the story, and going on in my life that came along unexpectedly (a family) that I feel is more important. When I bought the truck, my family's business paid for it, and it was to be used for work - I was paying the shop off, but getting paid part of what I was paying to use it. I ended up going away to school and fourwheeling in the mountains...wasn't used to trees, etc, since i'm a desert wheeler = dents. After that, I had a construction job in texas, which was hard on the bed. Now I'm back working for my family, but no use for it here. Also got married in Jan, baby July. So basically, the plan now is to spend this weekend/week making it look presentable as-is, and sell it. Thank you to those of you who have given input. CK5 really is the best. I'm still open to more input/ideas of course. - David

find a truck body company, someone that sells utility beds and what not, the ones around here stack up the stock beds they take off and sell them back to body shops or dealers over the next couple years, you might be lucky as dodge changed body styles recently which usually makes old stuff less valuable. your truck being white will make it easier too, as most are sold white to facilitate painting them any color.

i bought a bed from a company around here for my old bosses truck, i paid like 100$ because they had had it since 90-91 and hadn't sold it yet(in '02)

plus he got like 2k more trade in on a new d-max, they didn't even care that it was on a 98 truck.

if you put it on ebay, use a reserve. that will stop you from being committed to the sale if it doesnt go high enough, but be honest, i'll bid on crappy looking stuff if the seller has described why it looks crappy, and the general condition. hell put a reserve of like 8-10k and then when it doesnt sell call the last bidder and see if you can work out a deal. i even contact sellers for stuff that doesnt sell, find out their reserve, and the high bid and offer somewhere in the middle.

and i dont think youd have a prob getting 5-6k out of it. it is a "cheap" CTD, people want them but they are expensive, you might find that there's more buyers for a cheap one than there is for a mint 5k mi truck... :dunno: you never know

and you need money scroll on down to the for sale forum and list it up it is a very desirable tranny and would prob, sell fast.

even if it doesent work, someoe might want a builder, price it reasonable and it is sure to go.

Did you do it with "poor" condition chosen? How much was that?

They won't give you a "Poor" price. says to take it to an appraiser.

BTW, for all you young guns out there, I hope youre paying attention and learning from my mistakes. Be careful, think and plan ahead.

too low that he doesnt want to advertise that. take your loss man. you were irresponsible, and beat something that wasnt yours into the ground. take what you can get out of it, and pay off the rest. maybe you'll learn to be a little more responsible next time you borrow money on a truck.

I'm not sure what you mean by your too low statement, but like i said, it won't give you a price. I'm not worried about how much I can get for it. It just want to sell it for whatever's fair. I've talked ot a couple people, and I'm taking offers (OBO), pretty hard to put a price on it.

Actully, I won't be borrowing money on anything...I wouldn't have this time, but it was supposed to help pay for itself, and that didn't work out. I didn't beat it into the ground, i just beat up the body. Ease off with the ragging, I don't need to be reminded. :doah:

trade you straight-up for my 94 ford t-bird 4.6L and a case of beer of your choice.....
