Do I need to do anything special to a new dash pad before painting with SEM? Besides use the cleaner, then adhesion promoter then paint? Dash is new.

I would wipe it down with denatured alcohol and then scuff it with a red 3M scuff pad, then wipe clean with denatured alcohol again.
You could then spray the adhesion promoter and then paint.
I did not use adhesion promoter and it seems to work just fine...that's with SEM which is a superior product. But I did use adhesion promoter on my console...so I guess it certainly can't hurt.

I found that the key to spraying these things is to force yourself to spray light coats. I know it's hard....but the first coat should literally be a one pass coat that you will barely be able to see. You need to repeat this until it is coated. Allow the flash time recommended between coats...it will take a while to complete this way, but it will adhere and look much nicer.

Oh, and make sure you have plenty of light so you can see the surface but not direct sunlight because you don't want the surface to be 1000 degrees

painted it before you posted up. I cleaned it like 6 times till each blue paper towel was final clean when wiping even though new. I then sprayed SEM adhesion promoter as can said and sprayed 5 coats waiting little time between each coat. Will see in morning when get to work what it really looks like and should work hopefully. Color on dash pad was just touch lighter then what I painted it so should help.

I sprayed my door inserts and they seem to be holding up, I didnt use the adhesive promoter though. I just wiped down the panels with alcohol and sprayed them.
