is there a pump/ sender, such as a 1997 truck, that will fit into a blazer tank that has baffles? I would like to buy the simplest way to switch over the fuel for a LS swap.

1978 blazer
2003 tahoe 5.3

I know I'll be running new metal hoses and all but if there's a pump and sender combo that fits a new tank then I'll just buy those. I'm also looking to get the bigger tank if possible.

thanks,
possum

Probably easier to just purchase a 87-91 Blazer or Suburban tank along with the same year sending unit...then just get an EP381 fuel pump (for a 1997 Tahoe but is the same dimensions of a TBI pump and fits in a TBI hanger) and your done. Then you get the tank with the baffles, plus you know everything is new (or find that tank in a junk yard if you want to save some $)

We need a sticky with this info, it's been a common discussion topic lately.

Blazer TBI Tank
Blazer TBI Sending Unit (matching the tank size)
AC Delco EP381 Fuel Pump
Earls Adapter 9894DBJERL
Russell Adapter 640820

IIRC the later pump/pickup units are all integrated. Not sure if the tanks have sumps/baffles, or if it's all done within the unit, but they are designed to be replaced as a unit. I believe the diameter is larger, so you have to modify the tank, which is more work than just modifying the TBI sender.

It would be nice if someone would make a retrofit setup that fits the older stock tanks, but adds baffle/sump through the design of the sending unit. Would make swaps/conversions a lot easier.

I needed to do this for my RamJet350 install. It's port fuel injection, requires baffled tank and is port fuel injection system.
I started with a tanksinc setup (click it, it will go to their website):

And modified it for the extra deep 40 gal Hickey tank I have, that has some rudementray baffles in it (one, IIRC). The little bowl on the bottom, I feel, helps tremendously with holding fuel for angles and off-roading and I feel really helps compliment baffles or even compensate for lack of baffles.

I've never looked, but IIRC some of the TBI engine'd blazer's had intank pumps. The pumps aren't pushing enough for your LS, but you may be able to get the tank setup from one of those trucks and just swap the pump for one that meets the LS specs for volume and pressure.

It seems like we've said these exact same things before @skunked haha.

And for those who will be using saddle tanks on a TBI truck (not the blazer/suburban TBI tank), these do not have the threaded end fittings on the sending unit as pictured above. They just have the normal ports to slip a rubber hose and hose clamp on just like carb'd trucks. In this case, you just order these tube sleeve and nuts:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/EAR-581905ERL
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/RUS-660571

Along with these adapters:

Then you need to cut the ends off the feed and return line ports on the sending unit, put the nut and sleeve's on there, and then flair the lines...it will look similar to below:

With the adapters on:

And in the tank with brand new -6AN hose and hose ends hooked up to it:

As a word of caution, it's worth trying to find a sending unit if going this route that has longer ports on it then most normal sending units. I ended up finding this sending unit off RockAuto that worked really good:

http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=972608&cc=1061895&jsn=13

You will notice how much longer the ports are than normal sending units you find at parts stores. When I used a normal sending unit (pictured above) the only way to get the flairing tool on there was to bend the ports straight up, flair it, then bend the ports back down...but in doing this is cause a small crack in the tube at the bend which leaked....when I used this new sending unit with the longer ports, I didn't have to bend them at all and everything went smooth (and yes I've tested this new sending unit and it works like a charm :))

I know this is not what the OP is asking, but knowledge is power in this game, haha
