What are you guys using to seal your sending units? Specically oil pressure sending units. I was told not to use teflon tape or silicone, whats left?

Im installing a remote filter and cooler on my 383, should i run a high volume oil pump because all of the extra plumbling?

technically, they are npt and don't need any sealer.... i've run many, many npt fittings dry without issue... but i generally use a dab of thread sealant... like permatex #300, etc.... there is no fear of losing ground with a sealant... unlike teflon, which has that potential with too many wraps, to where the thread doesn't cut thru it.... sealant will always allow contact....

stock pump should be fine... it's all i'm gonna run with a remote dual filter and cooler...

what type of fluid is in that particular system is usually what dictates what i use.... also what material the fittings are steel, bronze, plastic, etc...

i've used everything from #300 to perfect seal to 14H to friggin 3M 5200 :eek1: depending on whether it's dizzle, coolant, etc or unfortunately, even poop systems.. :doah: :haha:

correctamundo.. :haha:

I just got done replacing a 2 head system in a 56' er....... it's a freshwater fed vacuflush system (like a plane), not a seawater fed "chunk and puke" as we like to call em..... :haha:

chunk and pukes suck..... the toilet chops the doodoo and makes poo sluree! :eek1: :woot::doah::haha:

*chugs MOLSON Ice* :pimp:

anyway, vacuflush systems are all 1 1/4" NPT plastic fitting stuff...... and about 100' of 1 1/2" sanitation hose.... i usually use the 14H, but in the past i have grabbed the caulking gun of 5200 on occasion......

ah dude, i had pee all over me last week... :(:( it's hard to describe how f*cked up my job is....

the range of cr*p, pun intended that i deal with on a daily basis is just stupid...

guy gets towed in yesterday.... hits a dredge pipe doing like 40 mph..... breaks the whole outdrive off, shattered the aluminum housing, pulled the boat out of the water and the 100+ LB drive is just hanging there by the rubber bellows and shift cable... :eek1: by all rights, that focker shoulda sank...

that's tomorrows project... :woot:
