Ok guys, need some help with senders and sensors. first here’s a picture of my intake manifold:

I drew some arrows pointing to the places in question. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Far left hole at the front is for a heater hose fitting right?

One of the other two front holes I believe is for a temp sensors for a dash light? I know the sending unit is on the driver side head. If that’s the case then what would the last front hole be for?

As for the hole in the back, on my old intake there’s a fitting for what looks like a vacuum line in that spot. the old intake is for tbi and my current one is for a carb. I think that line may have gone to the egr? If so I could just plug it or maybe use it for something like the heater box?

last question, I know where the oil pressure sending unit lives (behind distributer) but isn’t there a pressure sensor for a light on the dash? I feel like I remember it being on the passenger side of the block.

thanks in advance for the help!

The hole behind the plenum opening usually feeds the brake booster. EGR should have had a small vac line off the throttle body, and then it bolted to the intake.

The "pressure sensor" you may be thinking of in the back, tied to the pressure line, was for the TBI. That is an oil pressure switch for the fuel pump. No pressure no fuel

Correct on heater hose. I don't think you get both gauge and light.
So if you have a gauge you can plug the 2 holes.
The 2nd hole by heater tap, would be for thermostatic vacuum switch, emissions device.

Ah, makes sense. Much appreciated

Perfect, thank you. I remember there being a sensor there by the thermostat I just couldn’t remember what it was for.

Ok so last question I think, do I need 2 pcv valves (one for each side) or should I just block one side off? Was going to do pcv on the driver side and oil fill on the passenger side.

pvc system SBC.png Factory setup uses one PCV valve in the drivers side valve cover ,and a breather on the passenger side cover, which draws in fresh air thru a bowtie filter inside the air filter housing...you must have a breather ,or the PCV valve will suck oil past the rings and burn it..

Oh ok, makes sense. So if my air filter doesn’t have that provision I need one of these?

No only 1 pcv valve. you need a filtered fresh air source. If you had 2 pcv, or a plugged inlet filter, you would draw unfiltered air in past gaskets and seals, and use lots of oil.

yes those work

the back port behind the carb can be used for Hvac vacuum source th350/400 modulator vacuum. If carb doesn't provide a 1/4 pipe port at rear for vacuum booster you can use that rear port as well

I just remember that my carb does have a dedicated port in the back for the brake booster.

Don’t forget the check valve between the carb and the booster

Ok unfortunately I’ve got a couple more questions, first is really simple, which size heater hose goes where? Does the 5/8 hose go on the intake or does the 3/4 inch hose go there? Also somehow I ended up with a radiator that doesn’t have a place to attach the heater hose. Any reason I can’t run it back into the water pump like this?

I assume that’s what its there for.
Ok lastly. I think I’m loosing my mind. I swear the old oil sending unit fit in the hole in the back of the block and had an adapter on it.

But for some reason now I can’t get it to thread in it seems way too big. Am I crazy?

For the heater, top of the heater core to the intake, bottom of core to the pump
