I have a engine I purchased from an individual . Mine chewed the crank up . I want to keep my Blazer as original as possible . I know gas engines go by serial number to see if it to see if it's the cars original engine or not . Are the diesels the same way ? Also my original engine had a lot of oil in the intake and the new engine was clean .

I don't know about the S/N question. What year and type of engine are you talking about? A N/A 6.2 should not have oil in the intake (though a c-code emissions engine will have EGR carbon deposits there).

The engine I had was one with an egr . I replaced the intake awhile back with one without an egr . The engine I purchased is an J code engine . No egr
