This is posted on pirata4x4. It's something called PYROLOSIS. It is a VERY dangerous situation that CAN KILL YOU. Watch the video all the way thru. If you have tires on your vehicle which every single one of us does it pertains to you. I don't know how to embed the video but the link is a good link. NO JOKE. Please watch.

froze up for me at around 2 min mark. was fully loaded tho. go figure.

working off this link for me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBUVzgCHHuA

i realy want to watch it. as we had a guy at work almost losse his hand from a tire blow up on a semi rim . the rim was warped from a brake fire on a trash hauling trailer. he didnt check it as good as it should have been from what i was told. when he installed new tire and iared it up he got to around 100 psi the tire let go off the rim and tossed him across the shop around 20-30 ft and he now has had 2-3 oporations on his hand and its still not right.

wow thats scary . i linked that to my company boss. he will see everyone watches this for good training.

Just keep trying to watch it. Or come back to it later, maybe it will work. :dunno:

Damn scary... Logically you know the heat and pressure will go up but after such a short bit of welding! Amazing and very educational - thanks

Crazy right! How many time have you herd "Take a torch to it, put some heat on it" regarding stuck lug nuts. That can cause this to happen! And an offroad tire taking 22 hours to explode!!!:eek1:

Can you imaging a huge earth moving tire exploding!!! Would take days I bet.

Yep, really

Nope, not really. The way you state it, it's way out of proportion.

I'm pretty sure if some charming nitwit on Pirate wants to kill themselves with a welder, it doesn't in any way affect the safety of that little convertible out in the garage that my wife likes to drive.

I said it like that so everyone KNOWS it pertains to them and NOT to pass on watching the video since we ALL have tires on a vehicle. Makes perfect sence to me. I'm sorry you can see it that way. If you have nothing to worry about then please stop nit picking the verbage and just move on. I posted this for safety's sake, that is all.

I just saw someone at work take a torch to a Semi trailer wheel to remove the lug nuts that froze to the rim. Everyone was like whoa what are you doing??? Ive seen those bad boys catch on fire from the brakes but nothing like this.

You should show this to the boss at work. Tell him it should be implimented into the safety training. Maybe you will get an adda boy out of it. Everyone working on heavy equipment or with tires should try this. Maybe it might get you a bonus.

Wow, that is some scary crazy stuff !!!! Thanks for the post , I already sent the video to a few friends, I never thought welding on a rim with a tire mounted was a good idea but I had no idea how bad of an idea it really was!:eek1: :eek1:

I would like to know if this is one of those random Phenomenons kinda things. It's not always going to happen, but when it does.........WATCH OUT!

Holy ****. Never knew that could happen . I have welded on skidder wheels many times. Gonna have to be a whole lot more carefull.
