Seriously thinking of buying and DDing this

If that's a half decent deal @ 5 grand, I'll gladly give my cousin 7. :haha:

I've started my search back up again for a 66-67. My cousin's 65 was plan B, since it's in perfect "restoration while driving" condition. :D

still hunting now:waytogo:

Been thinkin more on this. I guess if you can make payments and let it sit until its payed its not so bad. Don't have to come up with all the cash up front. You can find other parts it needs in the meantime. You could be worse off and it's setup for v8 already so you really could be a lot worse off than that deal. If all else fails you can still do up this one and keep it in the family.

I don't know.
These chevyII were very popular because they were cheap and plentyfull and now people think they have gold.
I have a nice 67 firebird 400, original California car. Complete and rare and no one wants to buy it for $5000.
just doesn't make sense.
that is not worth more than $3000 and that is a stretch.
If your problem is payment I take payments too.

A lot of it is location, location, location, just like real estate..

Haul that Firebird here and you'd get 15K for it probably, because there IS none up here, the few that might be, are either rotted junk,a hacked up one with non original drivetrain,or someones pristine 30K original owner type car..

A Nova like that here would bring 5 or 6 grand at a swap meet for a "project car",I have seen much worse sell for that here,in peices, like an erector set!..

In CA and other states where these kinds of cars didn't all rot away 20 years ago and junkyards crushed the rest,I'm sure prices are more reasonable..hell,even a air cooled VW here is dam hard to find for less than 3 grand that hasn't been all patched together..out there there is probably thousands to choose from...you look on craigslist for one here, you'll see maybe ten for sale in all of new england, and 90% of them are rotted or patched up junkers..the ones that are not,go for 6-10 grand..

All about location and timing.

Got a call today from a guy north of SF, Ca. He bought my moms 34 Chevy Coupe last month. For 28k. From a guy in Riverside, Ca. who paid 25k. From the guy who bought it from my mom for 20k. She sold it in February of this year.

And it has won 4 car shows along the way.

I was scratching my head about this nova, then it dawned on me, it used to be a 4 door. Even says in the ad, "salvaged". lol

Have a pic of the firebird? I like firebirds..

That's a 2 door sedan.

Sedans have door posts, coupes don't. Sedans are preferred with drag racers as they have metal supporting a roof and are more rigid and don't twist up as easily. Other than tri-fives and 62-67 Novas, I don't know of any other GM cars in the last 60 years that were available as both post and non-post.

You're kidding me right. That thing is hideous. Crazy how it changes the whole look of the car. I've never seen one before so it's kinda hard to believe lol.

This is for those that might not understand my fascination for these. This is the look, I know it's popular, but this gives me wet dreams. :D

Minus the 500ci BB and blower. A lightweight, all aluminum LS motor is the ticket :waytogo::woot:

damnit man we don't have time for this nonsense!
go buy the chevy 2 and start a damn build thread with some pictures would ya! less shopping, more spending!

I kinda like the look of the sedan style. 4 door would be about a foot longer in front of the rear wheels. Notice they have the same distance to the drivers door. It's kind of like the difference between the coupe and fastback styling. That red one looks nice. Lots of choices of rust free living in Cali. Main part I miss about living there. Not much else though. Lol

Gotta shop and be smart about it. Going to end up my DD for sure.

That nice red one wants $15k. :O
The blue one is a typo @ $2142
My local large car swap meet/show/sale isn't till Oct 20. There should be a at least 10 of these to look at also, but I do find most of them dreaming with their asking price.

worse case you should come up for the next good guys show in Pleasanton, always a crap ton of cars for sale.

Judging by the house it's sitting in front of someone would probably have the Money to pay that for it. Sometimes it's tough to not just jump the gun on one when you got the cash. That blue for two grand would be a good start if it runs good.looks to be in great shape body and paint wise.

If you are truly serious, you should be looking for the Friday Night Cruises. Bob's Big Boy in Burbank, there used to be one that met at the Cruiser's Car Wash in Northridge, etc. There used to always be cars for sale at those. 1st and 2nd gen Nova's are scarce compared to Camaro's and Mustangs. Check Hemming's and of course Stevesnovasite.com

I ended up with a '63 SS because the Smog Laws changed for a few years in the 90's and everything had to be smogged/ dyno'd from '66 on for a few years. 69 Camaro's were going cheap for a 2-3 year period. I love my car and have a lot of serious money into it but if I had a Camaro, I feel that I could have built it for less money and easier as every part is available and it has a decent front suspension from the get go. Also, would have retained more value. There are a lot of Camaro's that sell for $85k, not a lot of Nova's.

Is the paint on your cousins original? Sorry if I missed that. Old cars with new paint can be bad news. If that car is a driver and original paint it could pull 6k all day here if it is as solid as it looks on my iPhone. Maybe by you there are lots of chevy 2s but I haven't seen one driving down the road in recent memory.

Original paint, all original sheet metal, no rust.

I don't see Novas around here, except at car shows and Craigslist :)
