Will the serpintine setup from a 89 K5 with a 350(Mikeys) work on a 73 SBC 400?

Its going into a 83 K10 and I plan on keeping my hydroboost setup and Deisel Radiator.

Im going to eliminate anything Air Conditioner related.

Im just curious as to whether it will work or not before I hand any cash over to mikey cuz he will no doubt spend it on crappy minnesota beer:rolleyes:

Don't see why it wouldn't provided you use a serp waterpump and fan.

they just are reverse cut or something liek that correct?

The water pump and fan spin backwards from v-belt setups. So you need a reverse rotation waterpump and fan, so yes.

Good that you don't want air since the a/c compressor was disposed of anyways.

I'm pretty sure the hydroboost won't work with it though...

Eh well, it's a Minnesotan part, far superior and incompatible with Iowan parts.

You can pull the pulleys off both power steering pumps, pull the pumps off their brackets, and switch them around. Then your truck will be just fine with hydroboost :)

Just realize that there may be a bolt hole or two that doesn't line up, or isn't tapped on your older heads. You want at least three bolts per side holding it on if possible...

The best setup I've seen to date is from the TPI cars, they have aluminum bracketry that goes from the heads all the way down to the bolt holes just above the oil pan, and all but 1 bolt lines up, and is drilled / tapped. I drilled and tapped the last hole, but would reccomend against it, as I drilled a hole straight through into the water jacket, doh!

Its getting some aftermarket heads anyway, I may talk to my motor builder about it, I can prolly get Kert to fab me up some brackets too

I've got the water pump pulley and the crank pulley as well as the belt.

hydro boost pump will fit the stock k5 setup. i did it to my 79. only 1 bolt hole on right head wont be there.

Sounds like an excellent opportunity for an onboard air setup! Kilby makes a bracket that goes right in place of the serp a/c compressor.

This is going to be Drey's "pretty truck" for now, so no need for OBA...until we hack it up and put 40's on it. :haha:

Even a pretty truck can benefit from a set of air horns. :waytogo:

Oh you can just kiss my a$$ mikey. I just want it within the realm of workability still. What good is a truck on 40s gonna be to haul wagons from the farm to town with, or pull a trailer. I was actaully thinking about OBA down the road, would be handy to have for all sorts of things.

Also the decision has been made in another 50000 miles my 96 S10 blazer will go under the knife and my first trail rig will be in the works
